NOW HIRING! HOLY TRINITY PARISH NURSE:
A MINISTRY OF HEALING
Thanks to a grant from the Connie Bianco Fund and the endorsement of our Pastoral Council, we are seeking applications for a part-time Registered Nurse to provide Faith-based Holistic Care of Mind, Spirit, & Body to Holy Trinity’s parishioners, their families, and caregivers. This is a one-year pilot program, which we hope will evolve into a permanent full-time program.
We are seeking applications from seasoned, licensed registered nurses only. The successful candidate is expected to have completed or to enroll in a certified Parish Nursing training course.
SUPERVISION & DIRECTION
The Parish Nurse reports to the Pastor and to the Holy Trinity Parish Health Cabinet.
The Parish Nurse cares for members of the Parish who are sick, elderly, disabled, and those in crisis or transition at any age or stage of life. S/he provides non-invasive medical support, including needs assessments, development of care plans, patient advocacy, and health education. The Parish Nurse will also be actively involved in fund-raising.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Visiting members of the parish at home, local hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
Providing ongoing monitoring of patients’ condition.
Providing resource referrals to patients, caregivers and families.
Counseling patients on health-related issues, nutrition, home safety, etc.
Advocating for patients.
Helping to coordinate hospital discharge plans.
Helping patients adapt to holistic lifestyle changes.
Will conduct needs assessment survey for the congregation.
Providing health screenings and education in the patient’s home or at events held at the Parish.
Coordinating monthly blood pressure screenings for the congregation and follow up if warranted.
Writing educational Health Newsletters or Health Information for the Parish Bulletin.
Recruiting, Training & Coordinating volunteers.
Informing Pastor and Health Cabinet of needs among parishioners.
Writing grant applications and raising funds to sustain the ongoing project.
May create support groups for caregivers and the disabled, on health topics identified in the Congregational Assessment.
Maintaining appropriate records and patient data.
The Parish Nurse does NOT deliver medical care; no invasive techniques (i.e. injections, IVs, catheters, etc.) Does not write prescriptions or administer meds.
